How it's built

Started at 1,000. Stablecoins and gold tokens excluded. Members are the ten largest coins at each update, and the divisor adjusts when they change so the line stays continuous.

How it's estimated

Bitcoin aims for one block every 10 minutes, so the date is the remaining blocks × 10 minutes. Real block times vary, so the estimate drifts by days.

Portfolio rebalancer

What would it take to get your portfolio back to your target mix?

Two donut charts: a portfolio that has drifted to 72% BTC, 18% ETH and 10% others, and a 60/30/10 target, with the trades to get back: sell 12% BTC, buy 12% ETH.
After Bitcoin outran the rest, a 60/30/10 mix drifted to 72/18/10. Selling 12% of the portfolio's value in BTC and buying the same in ETH restores the target.

What this means

Rebalancing sells some of what has grown and buys some of what has shrunk, to return to the mix you chose.

These are theoretical amounts. Selling can create taxable gains, and every trade has fees and possible slippage.

How it's calculated

Trade = target % × total value − current value of each coin

How to use it

  1. Enter what you hold now, or load your saved portfolio.
  2. Set the target percentage for each coin.
  3. See which trades would bring you back to those targets.

Worked example

Your targets are 60% Bitcoin, 40% Ethereum. After a rally, a $10,000 portfolio is $7,000 Bitcoin and $3,000 Ethereum. Rebalancing means selling about $1,000 of Bitcoin and buying $1,000 of Ethereum.

Reading the result

For each holding, the table shows its share of the portfolio now, the target share you set and the trade that closes the gap, marked Buy or Sell. The buys and sells balance out, so no new money is needed, and the line underneath estimates the fees. Equal weights sets every target to the same share in one click. If you'd rather not sell anything, put new money only into the coins marked Buy, which brings the mix back over time without triggering a sale.

Mistakes to avoid

Common questions

How often should I rebalance?

Common approaches are on a schedule, such as every quarter, or when a holding drifts more than a set amount from its target. Each trade has costs.

Does selling to rebalance create taxes?

In many countries, yes. Selling at a profit can be a taxable event.
