Today's crypto prices by market cap

Methodology

How every number on KryptoKap is calculated, where it comes from and how often it changes. If a figure on the site looks wrong, this is where to check it.

Market cap and ranking

Market cap is price × circulating supply. Coins are ranked by market cap, largest first, so a coin's rank says how much the market values it in total, not how expensive one coin is.

Circulating supply is the number of coins that can actually be traded today, as reported by CoinMarketCap. Coins with no reported supply have no market cap and sit at the end of the list.

Prices and how often they update

Prices, supply and volume for 1,000 coins come from CoinMarketCap every 30 minutes. Between those updates, coins that trade on Coinbase get live prices from Coinbase's public feed, and the page totals move with them.

Price history on coin charts uses daily closes from Coinbase, and only when Coinbase's price agrees with CoinMarketCap's, so a different coin with the same ticker can't slip in. Every page shows when its data was last updated.

Supply and fully diluted value

Total supply counts every coin created so far, including coins that are locked or held back. Max supply is the hard limit, when there is one.

Fully diluted value is price × max supply, meaning what the market cap would be if every coin that can ever exist were already trading at today's price. A big gap between market cap and fully diluted value means a lot of new supply is still to come.

Sectors

Each coin gets one main sector, taken from its CoinMarketCap tags and checked in a fixed order: gold-backed, stablecoins, memes, AI, privacy, exchange tokens, infrastructure and so on. One sector per coin means the sectors add up to the whole market with nothing counted twice.

A sector's daily move is size-weighted, so big coins count for more, the same way an index works. The share of coins up today is shown next to it, so a move driven by one large coin is easy to spot.

KryptoKap Pulse (market mood)

A score from 0 (extreme fear) to 100 (extreme greed), built from the 100 largest coins, leaving out stablecoins and gold tokens.

It blends four parts: the share of coins up today (30%), the share up this week (20%), today's size-weighted move (25%, where −5% scores 0 and +5% scores 100) and this week's size-weighted move (25%, where −15% scores 0 and +15% scores 100).

Under 25 is extreme fear, 25 to 44 fear, 45 to 55 neutral, 56 to 75 greed and 76 or more extreme greed. It uses prices only, with no social media, surveys or search data.

Altcoin season

The share of the 100 largest coins, leaving out stablecoins and gold tokens, that did better than Bitcoin over the last 90 days.

75 or more means altcoin season. 25 or less means Bitcoin season. In between, it leans one way or the other.

KryptoKap 10

An index of the ten largest coins, leaving out stablecoins and gold tokens, weighted by market cap. It started at 1,000.

Members are the ten largest coins at each update. When a coin joins or leaves, the divisor is adjusted so the line stays continuous and the change itself doesn't move the index.

Bitcoin dominance

Bitcoin's market cap divided by the market cap of every coin KryptoKap tracks. Because the total covers 1,000 coins rather than every token in existence, it can differ by a fraction of a percent from other sites.

Volume and unusual trading

Volume is the dollar value traded in the last 24 hours, across the exchanges CoinMarketCap counts. Volume ÷ market cap shows how actively a coin trades for its size.

Discover's unusual trading list compares each coin's volume ÷ market cap with coins of a similar size, so a small coin isn't flagged just for being small.

Time Machine and history

Once a day, the first update after midnight UTC saves a snapshot of all 1,000 coins, including rank, price, market cap and sector. The Time Machine and the sector charts are built from these snapshots, kept for five years. History starts on the day KryptoKap launched and grows from there.

Bitcoin halving countdown

Bitcoin halves its block reward every 210,000 blocks. The countdown takes the current block height from mempool.space and multiplies the blocks left by 10 minutes, Bitcoin's target block time. Real blocks come faster or slower, so the date drifts by days.

What we never do

Rankings are never paid for and never adjusted by hand. Sample or estimated figures are always labeled. The optional buy button on coin pages is marked as an affiliate link and has no effect on rank or content.
