How it's built

Started at 1,000. Stablecoins and gold tokens excluded. Members are the ten largest coins at each update, and the divisor adjusts when they change so the line stays continuous.

How it's estimated

Bitcoin aims for one block every 10 minutes, so the date is the remaining blocks × 10 minutes. Real block times vary, so the estimate drifts by days.

Dilution check

How much of a coin's supply is still to come?

A supply ring 40% filled, showing a coin with 40% of its maximum supply in circulation has a $2 billion market cap and a $5 billion fully diluted value, 2.5 times larger.
With 40% of its maximum supply out, a $2 billion coin is worth $5 billion fully diluted. The other 60% could arrive over time and spread the value thinner. Free to reuse

What this means

Fully diluted valuation multiplies today's price by the maximum supply. A large gap means many coins are still to be released.

Coins without a maximum supply can keep issuing new coins, so they have no FDV.

How it's calculated

FDV = price × maximum supply. Ratio = FDV ÷ market cap

How to use it

  1. Pick a coin.
  2. Read how much of its maximum supply is already circulating.
  3. Compare its market cap with its fully diluted value.

Worked example

A coin with 25% of its maximum supply circulating at a $400 million market cap has a fully diluted value of $1.6 billion. Three times today's supply is still to come.

Reading the result

The result shows what share of the maximum supply already exists, the fully diluted value next to today's market cap, and how many coins are still to come. Fully diluted value is the market cap the coin would have if every coin were already in circulation, at today's price. A ratio near 1.0 means almost all coins are out. A ratio of 3.0 means two thirds of the supply hasn't reached the market yet, and those coins could add selling pressure as they arrive.

Mistakes to avoid

Common questions

What if a coin has no maximum supply?

There's no final number to dilute to, so FDV doesn't apply. Check its yearly issuance instead.

Is a high FDV ratio bad?

It means a lot of supply is still to arrive, which needs new demand to absorb. It's a risk to understand, not a verdict.
