How it's built

Started at 1,000. Stablecoins and gold tokens excluded. Members are the ten largest coins at each update, and the divisor adjusts when they change so the line stays continuous.

Countdown

How it's estimated

Bitcoin aims for one block every 10 minutes, so the date is the remaining blocks × 10 minutes. Real block times vary, so the estimate drifts by days.

Compare coins

How do two coins stack up?

Coin A and coin B compared on market cap ($120B against $40B), 24-hour volume ($6B against $5B) and supply issued (92% against 45%).
Coin A is three times bigger, but coin B trades nearly as much for its size and still has more than half its supply to come. Comparing several measures at once tells you far more than price.

What this means

The comparison page shows both coins' stats, their size ratio, 7-day performance and what each would be worth at the other's market cap.

How it's calculated

Size ratio = market cap A ÷ market cap B

How to use it

  1. Pick two coins.
  2. Read their price, market cap, supply and recent performance side by side.
  3. Use the what-if line to see each at the other's size.

Worked example

Comparing a $1 trillion coin with a $50 billion coin shows a 20× size gap. For the smaller coin to match, its price would need to rise 20 times with supply unchanged.

Reading the result

The size ratio tells you how many times larger one coin's market cap is than the other's. Below it, the comparison page lines up price, supply, volume and recent performance side by side, and shows what each coin's price would be at the other's market cap. Use it to answer questions like how much room a smaller coin has if it caught a larger rival, or which of two coins has held up better this week.

Mistakes to avoid

Common questions

Can I compare more than two coins?

Yes. The compare tray on coin pages holds up to five coins and opens a side-by-side view.

Why compare market caps instead of prices?

Prices depend on supply, so a cheaper coin isn't necessarily smaller. Market cap compares total size.
