Index

KryptoKap 10

The ten largest coins, weighted by market cap.

History and members →
How it's built

Started at 1,000. Stablecoins and gold tokens excluded. Members are the ten largest coins at each update, and the divisor adjusts when they change so the line stays continuous.

Countdown

Bitcoin halving

Every 210,000 blocks, the reward for mining new Bitcoin is cut in half.

Fees, blocks and network →
How it's estimated

Bitcoin aims for one block every 10 minutes, so the date is the remaining blocks × 10 minutes. Real block times vary, so the estimate drifts by days.

Sector

Layer 2

Networks that process transactions away from a main blockchain like Ethereum, then settle back to it for lower fees.

About the sector

Layer 2 networks run transactions away from a main chain like Ethereum and post the results back, cutting fees for users.

Their tokens are mostly used for governance. On many of them, fees are paid in ether, not the layer 2's own token.

What moves it

Risks to know

Why might a busy layer 2 have a falling token?

If fees are paid in ether and the token is mainly for votes, usage doesn't automatically flow to the token.

Each coin gets one main sector from its CoinMarketCap tags, checked in a fixed order: gold-backed, stablecoins, memes, AI, privacy, exchange tokens, infrastructure, real-world assets, DeFi, gaming, layer 2, payments, store of value, smart contracts. Coins can carry other tags too, but count here only once, so sector totals add up to the whole market.
