How it's estimated

Bitcoin aims for one block every 10 minutes, so the date is the remaining blocks × 10 minutes. Real block times vary, so the estimate drifts by days.

Crypto ETF · 2x leveraged Bitcoin

BITU: ProShares Ultra Bitcoin ETF

Aims for twice Bitcoin's move on each single day, then resets. Over longer periods the result can be very different from 2× the coin's return.

Net over the period: −$20.2M. Green days added shares (money in), red days removed them.
Over four days the coin goes 100, 110, 100, 110, 100 and ends flat, while a 2x daily-reset ETF goes 100, 120, 98.18, 117.82, 96.40 and ends down 3.6%.
The coin rises 10% and falls back twice, ending where it started. A 2x fund that resets daily ends 3.6% lower, because each day's loss comes off a bigger base.

Why daily resets matter

This fund resets its leverage every trading day. In a steady trend that can work in your favor, but when the price swings up and down the resets cut into returns, so a 2x fund can lose money while Bitcoin is flat. Try it on real prices with the leveraged ETF calculator.

These funds are built for short holding periods. Read the issuer's prospectus for the exact target, fees and risks.

Where the numbers come from

KryptoKap reads ProShares's own published fund data once a day after the US market close. NAV is the value of the fund's holdings per share, not the trading price, though for these funds the two are usually close. Visit the issuer's site.

Questions about BITU

Is BITU meant for long-term holding?

Generally not. BITU aims for a multiple of Bitcoin's move on each single day and resets daily, so over weeks or months its return can differ a lot from the stated multiple, especially when prices swing.

Can BITU lose more than Bitcoin?

Yes. A leveraged or inverse fund magnifies daily moves, so in a choppy or sharply moving market it can lose far more than the coin itself. The leveraged ETF calculator shows how much on real prices.

How much does BITU cost to own?

Its yearly fee is 0.95%, about $95 a year on $10,000, taken out of the fund's assets a little each day. Brokerage commissions and the bid-ask spread come on top.

Who runs BITU?

ProShares, which launched it in April 2024. The issuer's prospectus has the full objective, holdings and risks.
